Our researchers are supported by funding through the NSW Environmental Trust and the Australian Research Council. While that funding meets the cost of staffing and student scholarship, research programs like ours often need additional support.

 

We deploy and maintain field equipment that record variations in plant status in a very challenging environment, run laboratory-based experiments with field-captured insects and collect tree-ring samples to develop reconstructions of plant stress and insect outbreaks. All of these research activities are aimed at understanding the causes and dynamics of snow-gum dieback, with the goal of generating practical management responses to the phenomenon; each of them needs support.

 

Our current research priorities mean that donations currently support the purchase of heat-ratio method sap-flow meters and integrated soil-moisture monitoring stations, and maintenance of our existing high-resolution point-dendrometer network.
